The Philadelphia Eagles announced some roster news on Sunday afternoon. Heres an overview:

  • OG Kenyon Green was signed from the practice squad to the active roster.
  • WR Terrace Marshall was signed to the practice squad.

Lets sort through these moves on a player-by-player basis.

The Eagles originally acquired Green by trading C.J. Gardner-Johnson (and a Day 3 draft pick swap that was ultimately returned to Houston in the John Metchie trade) to the Texans. Originally, there was thought that Green would compete with Tyler Steen for the starting right guard job. But Green struggled to stay healthy and perform well. As a result, the 2022 first-round pick was cut and then re-signed to the Eagles practice squad.

Its a little surprising to see that the Eagles used their open spot which was created by placing Willie Lampkin on injured reserve to promote Green, who is now the 12th offensive lineman on the active roster. He will be a healthy scratch on game day.

Perhaps another team tried to poach Green away from the Eagles practice squad, prompting Philly to protect him by putting him on their roster.

It was previously thought that the Eagles might use the open roster spot to sign Marcus Epps or Britain Covey. Perhaps theyll just be temporary practice squad elevations in Week 1. Its also possible more roster tweaks are on the way.

To fill the open practice squad spot created by promoting Green to the roster, the Eagles re-signed Marshall. The team has yet to officially sign Javon Baker. Perhaps Marshall is keeping the seat warm until Baker gets here?

Its also worth noting that practice squad members Parry Nickerson and Ambry Thomas reportedly werent seen during Sundays practice.

Even more practice squad tweaks could be on the way.

To recap, heres the Eagles entire 17-player practice squad.

EDGE Antwaun Powell-Ryland Jr.

OT Luke Felix-Fualalo (international exemption)
